 Situated in the eastern foothills of the Stara Planina mountain range, directly on the Black Sea coast, St Vlas is a preferable holiday destination, ideal for recreation and respiratory disease treatment during all seasons. Founded during the 2nd century b.c., the Thracian settlement Larisa, during 14th century is being named St. Vlas - the protector of livestock trading. There have been five monasteries around the village.
